Vivaldi Concerti - Independent on Sunday

The self-governing orchestra presents a suitably egalitarian programme of Vivaldi's concerti, with no fewer than fifteen soloists on this disc. They concentrate on changing colour and texture rather than egotistical virtuosity, and the result is exuberant, co-operative chamber music playing of the highest quality. The programme shows the variety of instrumentation that Vivaldi employed, with concerti for horns, cello, lute and viola d'amore alongside those of clusters of different instruments.
