MacMillan: Tenebrae - Cappella Nova - Financial Times

Listening blind you could almost mistake these a cappella pieces for Arvo Pärt or another of the Baltic mystics, but the skirling pibroch motif - the language of the Scots lament - soon gives the game away. While hardly original, MacMillan's faux-medievalism is undeniably beautiful - especially in the seven Strathclyde Motets, handsomely sung by Cappella Nova under Alan Tavener.
