Francesco Piemontesi, SCO & Andrew Manze - Mozart: Piano Concertos 25 & 26 - Financial Times

The long years of collaboration between the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Charles Mackerras in Mozart have clearly spawned a vital tradition. In two of the late piano concertos young Italian pianist Francesco Piemontesi and conductor Andrew Manze carry on very much where Mackerras left off. These are lively, stylish performances, alert to every fleeting change of mood. Piemontesi plays with the vivacity of a young man and decorates the solo parts sparingly, but his captivating soft playing is equally in touch with the music’s inner soul.
