Duo Pleyel - Dussek: Complete Original Works for Piano Four-Hands - The Times
Pleasure of another sort bubbles out of the latest release to advance the cause of the roving Bohemian Jan Ladislav Dussek, one of Mozart’s most gifted contemporaries. Sitting side by side at their 1848 piano, a noble instrument of dappled sonorities, Richard Egarr and Alexandra Nepomnyashchaya (Duo Pleyel) offer Dussek’s complete original works for piano four hands, music not of tremendous depth, but of charm and much ingenuity (best displayed in three playfully tortuous fugues). Both artists obviously had tremendous fun making this recording during 2019, long before the virus and musical social distancing kicked in.
