Clara Sanabras - The New Irish Girl - Inverness Courier
Traditional music becomes early classical music in this programme of folk songs set to period instruments. The French-born, Catalan-raised and London-based soprano has a trained voice but phrases and inflects freely in folk style with lute, viola da gamba, recorder and psaltery accompaniment.
Vocal harmonies are provided by Cleo Laine's daughter, Jacqueline Dankworth, and the wide-ranging programme includes a version of "Fear A' Bhata" from Rathlin Island, Co Antrim, and several instrumentals, providing an intriguingly different perspective on often familiar material.
