Barb Jungr - Walking in the Sun - BBC Online
Unique. That would be the best description of Barb Jungr whose stunning voice can be heard in all its glory on Saturday 7th October at Sudbury's Quay Theatre. Barb's new show featuring Jenny Carr and Jessica Lauren on keyboards will showcase two of her greatest loves - blues and gospel. Much of what she'll be singing in Sudbury will be material from her new CD "Walking In the Sun" which, for me, is her best album to date. Her previous CDs have included tributes to Bob Dylan and Elvis Presley. Both those projects were well received but her latest offering on Linn Records will take some beating. Her sometimes sultry but always passionate voice is in fine fettle throughout. Her version of Marc Cohn's Walking In Memphis easily eclipses Cher's hit version and very few female singers have matched or are likely to match Barb's interpretations of Bo Diddley's Who Do You Love? and Jimmy Reed's Take Out Some Insurance.
