Barb Jungr - Just Like a Woman (hymn to Nina) - Rock 'n' Reel

Barb Jungr, who has previously interpreted Bob Dylan and Jacques Brel, pays homage to Nina Simone over eleven songs previously covered by the late and very great singer and civil rights campaigner. With elegant backing from the likes of Danny Thompson on bass, Jenny Carr (piano), Jessica Lauren (keyboards and harmonicas), Johnny Lee (drums and percussion) and Mark Lockheart (saxophones and clarinets), and her effortless voice floating over the top, Jungr breathes new life into hoary old chestnuts like Lilac Wine, To Love Somebody and Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood.

There's an exquisite Angel of the Morning and a trio of Dylan tracks, including an uncanny Ballad of Hollis Brown and a reggae-fied Just Like a Woman.
