There is such variety in this sparkling programme that the listener is entranced throughout.
The Palladian Ensemble's programme reflects the diversity of Venetian musical life with pieces that give us a tantalizing glimpse of the vanished world of seventeenth-century popular music.
Works are drawn from composers who lived and worked in Venice, whose music was published in Venice, or whose output was popular and well known in the city. The programme includes works by Buonamente, Castello, Cavalli, Turini, Uccellini and, of course, Venice's most famous son, Vivaldi.
