In The Studio: Ticciati Conducts Rachmaninov
Robin Ticciati is in Berlin with the DSO this weekend to record Rachmaninov’s magnificent Second Symphony.
The Scottish Chamber Orchestra recently completed a six date tour of Germany which kicked off in Koln on 4th March and took in Essen, Weisbaden, Mannheim and Aachen before ending in Dusseldorf on 10th March.
The SCO were playing under Robin Ticciati, who is already well-known to German classical music fans from winning Newcomer Of the Year at the 2011 ECHO Awards and being Principal Guest Conductor of the Bamberger Symphoniker.
The critics were united in their praise of the orchestra:
'This was the serious German Brahms, but somehow from the island of the blessed. Ecstatic applause.' Emsdettener Volkszeitung
'The orchestra's verve and joy of playing were contagious; its precision and effortlessness delightful...' Main-Spitze
'The Scots delivered this perfectly... It was a joy indeed...' Rheinische Post
'An immediate, open sound; clarity; vivid articulation; taut rhythms [and] a young conductor with drive: a good combination for a successful performance... Robin Ticciati and his Scottish musicians presented an electrifying interpretation of Brahms' Serenade...' Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung
The multi-award winning Scottish Chamber Orchestra marks its debut recording under the direction of Principal Conductor Robin Ticciati with the majestic Symphonie Fantastique by Hector Berlioz out Spring 2012.
