In The Studio: Karen Cargill

Following her critically acclaimed recital of lieder by Alma and Gustav Mahler, Karen Cargill returns to the recording studio this weekend with her regular recital partner Simon Lepper in a programme which embraces the sophisticated soundworld of French mélodies by Ernest Chausson and Reynaldo Hahn. Following a performance of this repertoire at Wigmore Hall in 2018 The Arts Desk commented: ‘Karen Cargill has tremendous artistry but also a very great voice indeed, a mysterious gift which makes her one in a thousand ...’

Recent concerts with Simon Lepper include appearances at Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Kennedy Centre Washington and Carnegie Hall New York, as well as regular recitals for BBC Radio 3.

Adding some orchestral colour to the recording are guest soloists from the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
