Two recordings by Alpha Classics have been named winners at the 2023 International Classical Music Awards (ICMA). Described as an ‘unrivalled badge of excellence’ the 26 awards will be presented on 21 April at a Gala Concert in Wroclaw, Poland.
Soprano Asmik Grigorian adds the Vocal Music Award to the growing number of accolades that she has amassed for Dissonance, her first recording with pianist Lukas Geniušas. The jury highlighted the way in which ‘Grigorian’s instrumental soprano conveys the feelings of loneliness, pain and ecstasy in an intense way and delicately emphasizes the meanings of the poem.’
The second award for Alpha Classics has been won by Nicolas Altstaedt’s recording of Salonen and Ravel. Featuring violinist Pekka Kuusisto, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and Dima Slobodeniouk, this ‘exciting expedition into a colourful cosmos of sound’ persuaded the jury to award the recording the Assorted Programs Award.
