Early Music Competition Gets Underway
The biennial York Early Music International Young Artists Competition begins today. The winner will secure a recording contract with Linn Records! The competition provides an international platform for emerging talent in the world of early music, and offers a major boost to young professional careers. The competition runs from 11-13 July, with the final being streamed live from 10am on Saturday 13th.
Ten ensembles have been selected by the Festival’s Artistic Advisers so the winners of the recording contract will be one of the following ensembles: Consort laurentien (Canada), Due Oratori (Netherlands), Duellists (UK), Duo Arnal-d’Anfray (France), El Gran Teatro del Mundo (Switzerland), El Parnasillo (Spain), ensemble feuervogel (Germany), Ensemble .q.p.i.t. (Switzerland), L’Apothéose (Spain) or The Butter Quartet (Netherlands).
The international jury comprises representatives of the broadcasting, recording, festival and music promotion worlds, who see the competition as a prime opportunity to identify and select new and promising young talent.
Previous winners include BarrocoTout, Sollazzo Ensemble, Thalia Ensemble, Palladian Ensemble, Profeti della Quinta and Ensemble Meridiana.
