Claire Martin On Tour With The Montpellier Cello Quartet
Claire takes 'Time & Place' on the road.
Claire Martin has been in the studio this week mixing her new album with producer Laurence Cottle and engineer Calum Malcolm. The album is called "A Modern Art" and is Claire's take on singing jazz in the 21st century.
She includes songs by many modern writers including Mark Winkler, Colin Lazzerini, Lauren Kinhan (New York Voices) and a beautiful ballad by the late Esbjorn Svensson. The title track is penned by Claire and Laurence.
You can look forward to some superb guitar playing by Phil Robson on "Everybody today is turning on" (Cy Coleman) and Claire has dug out a cracking Rogers and Hart track called "Everything I've got belongs to you". From what we have heard so far, the album is full of attitude, drive and funk. Many tracks have a fat big band sound as Nigel Hitchcock punches the sax solos out and there's a few bass solos full of substance from Laurence himself.
