Claire Martin - Best of 2008 Jazz in Audiophile Audition
Remastered album awarded in year list.
Claire Martin is flying high at the moment; in the last month she has completed a successful UK tour and released her new album Time & Place to great critical acclaim. Now she has been nominated for two British Jazz Awards: 'Best Vocalist' and 'Best New CD', the latter for her album of Irving Berlin classics Say It Isn't So.
The annual event, so highly regarded that it has earned the epithet ‘The Jazz Oscars', recognises the cream of the crop in British Jazz in 16 categories which have been nominated by an expert panel. Now the public has the chance to cast its vote to decide who will pick up one of this year's awards. It is fair to say that they will be spoilt for choice, with several well established performers taking their place alongside some newer names.
Also up for 'Best Vocalist' are Anita Wardell, Liane Carroll and Tina May, whilst Say It Isn't So will be up against v2.0 by GoGo Penguin, Two for the Road by Martin Taylor & Alan Barnes and Divas by Tina May.
