Born in Italy, Teodoro Baù started learning the viola da gamba at a young age with Claudia Pasetto. Subsequently, he finished his studies with Alberto Rasi, graduating summa cum laude with a special prize. He also studied Renaissance lute with Massimo Lonardi for eight years in Venice. Subsequently, he studied at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Paolo Pandolfo and at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg with Vittorio Ghielmi.

In 2021 he won the first prize and the Outhere prize at the MA Festival Competition in Bruges; moreover, he won the first prize at the 6. Bach-Abel Competition in Köthen in 2015, and from 2013 to 2015 he was supported by the Swiss Confederation Scholarship for Excellence in the Arts. He teaches viola da gamba at the early music summer course in Urbino, Italy.

Based in Basel, in the last years he alternated the solo activity to the activity of chamber music; he is a member of the ensemble “La Fonte Musica” in which he plays the ars subtilior repertoire with the medieval fiddle.
