Biography
The Orchestra of the Americas is a world-class symphony orchestra of gifted musical leaders, aged 18 to 30, representing 25 nations of the western hemisphere. Led by Music Director Carlos Miguel Prieto, the season centrepiece is a July-August residence, followed by an international concert tour held each year in different regions of the world. Since its 2002 inaugural season, the Orchestra has performed more than 400 concerts on the world’s most iconic stages, as well as in pioneering settings from Jamaica to Patagonia, from Belize to Ukraine, from rural Canada to western China. The Orchestra brings renowned artists – Yo-Yo Ma, Valery Gergiev, Joshua Bell, Philip Glass and many more – into the lives of musicians and audiences across the Americas and beyond.
