Biography
Magnificat is one of the world’s leading vocal consorts, admired for the variety and expressive detail of its interpretations of Renaissance and Baroque choral works. The ensemble performs in a predominantly one voice per part configuration, celebrating the character and colour of each singer’s voice while uniting them in an exceptional chemistry.
Recording exclusively for Linn, Magnificat has released a dozen acclaimed albums ranging from pre- and post-Reformation music by Thomas Tallis and William Byrd, to discoveries by Philippe Rogier, and bold interpretations of Heinrich Schütz’s Cantiones sacrae.

'The choral sound is extraordinarily coherent...clearly Cave and Magnificat are the team for this repertory.'
Fanfare
'Magnificat has already done[Rogier] proud with two previous collections of his work on Linn, and here Philip Cave includes the premiere recording of his Missa Inclita Stirps Jesse.'
BBC Music Magazine
'Vocal control and intonation are exemplary'.
American Record Guide
' Philip Cave creates a solemn intimacy with 'Magnificat' and 'His Majesty's Sagbutts and Cornets', which thrives on clean lines and balanced voices (impressive bass).'
